Our partners at Los Angeles Comic Con are putting together an additional, virtual experience for fans as they prepare for their live return to Los Angeles later this year, in September. The first ever Micro Con, presented by Sideshow, will take place Saturday, April 17 with four awesome hours of content including live streamed celebrity panels and digital one-on-one meet and greets. Talent-to-fan panels will be broadcast live from Hollywood from the innovative virtual event venue InCrowd in which VIP ticket holders can be included in the digital audience and participate in the interactive Q&As with their favorite Comic Con stars.
Another unique feature that sets L.A. Comic Con’s “Micro Con” apart from the other virtual conventions we’ve seen this year is the SuperFan Mall, an immersive merch shopping experience with over 100 vendors meant to replicate the fun of strolling through aisles of collectibles at the in-person event. The Los Angeles Comic Con team worked alongside video game designers on SuperFan Mall to give fans the same feelings of discovery and delight that they feel in person and to give its exhibitors a platform to display and sell their work.
In a statement, L.A. Comic Con event producers said, “our team brainstormed how we could unite the Con community while we await the return of in-person events. Micro Con is our answer, bringing together the best of the Comic Con experience through a virtual format, employing new innovative approaches in order to involve the global Con audience into our events.”
As the event industry continues to evolve past virtual-only events and are making plans to return to IRL and hybrid events, it is great to see organizers continuing to innovate and keep passionate and dedicated fans engaged with fun virtual events.
