On February 27th, we teamed up with Rip City Remix, the Portland Trail Blazers’ G-League affiliate, to spotlight the city of Portland’s diversity, engage the community, and honor local Black businesses and impact-driven organizations.
“As we bring our Portland community together to host our inaugural Black History Month game, we are excited to collaborate with Tixr to celebrate local Black business leaders and nonprofits like Black Parent Initiative making an impact," said Hannah Grauert, Rip City Remix President. “Fostering spaces of equity and inclusion are key to the success of any organization, making it crucial we recognize those leading the way in Rip City.”
Together, we capped off Black History Month with a casual pre-game networking event at the Chiles Center and courtside celebration, donating the best seats in the house to our guests of honor for the home game versus Toronto’s Raptors 905.
“Courtside tickets have long been symbolic of proximity to the heart of the action, and Tixr is committed to delivering unique and elevated experiences,” said Nate Liberman, Tixr’s Vice President of Sports. “Black-owned businesses continue to make a dynamic impact on the Portland community, and we believe this is a fun way to recognize the contributions Portland’s Black business leaders have made to the Rip City community.”
As we head into the final month of the inaugural Remix season and year two of our partnership, we'll be looking to champion more opportunities like this to engage the local community and create spaces for connection and allyship — on and off the court.
"We appreciate the courtside seats, VIP access and 20 tickets for our youth and families" said the team at Blackstar Academy. "We all had a blast!"
