When The Caverns’ founder Todd Mayo toured Big Mouth Cave back in 2008, he saw instant potential to create unforgettable, transcendent live music experiences in a historic natural landmark. At that very moment, the idea for The Caverns was born.
Just over an hour outside Nashville, The Caverns is one of those “you’ve gotta see it to believe it” type places. With an outdoor amphitheater and a subterranean stage built inside a cave, it’s easy to see why. One trip is enough to change your life.
The Caverns’ 1,200 capacity subterranean concert hall inside Big Mouth Cave and its 5,500 seat open-air amphitheater draw crowds from near and far for single nights and extended stays. Shows are selling out well into 2023 with performances from the likes of The Avett Brothers, The Disco Biscuits, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.
As an independent venue with complex ticketing needs — from general admission to reserved seating and camping — The Caverns needed an experiential commerce partner with a feature set as diverse as its programming. Enter Tixr.

The Caverns’ CFO Mark Rowan knew they’d made the right decision after their first onsale with us back in June 2022.

Working smarter, not harder
While it’s still early days, optimization technologies built into Tixr are already allowing The Caverns to realize more revenue with less effort. Enabling fully-integrated, fully-automated Payment Plans on higher-priced packages reduces sticker shock with a full breakout of installments. In addition, activating Waitlist on high-demand events helps capture unmet demand and protect fans from price gouging and fraud on the secondary market.
“The Caverns have only dipped a toe in the water in terms of using Tixr to the fullest extent, and they’re already seeing results,” according to Tixr sales leader Sara Mertz. ”The ability to offer complex lodging packages and add camping and parking passes to sales will also be a game changer for the team.”

On top of technology, local support from an industry veteran was a huge selling-point for The Caverns.
