With approximately 9,000 students enrolled across 12 schools and colleges on major campuses in Macon and Atlanta, medical schools in Macon, Savannah, and Columbus, and regional academic centers in Henry and Douglas counties, Mercer University is a dynamic and comprehensive center for higher education. Founded in 1833, the school ranks as a top tier national research university by U.S. News & World Report and is the only private institution in the state to field a NCAA Division I Athletic Program. Starting with the 2023 academic year, we’ll serve as the primary ticketing platform for both Mercer University Athletics and Mercer University Ticket Sales (MTS), the central hub for performances at Townsend School of Music, Mercer Theatre, and all events at The Grand Opera House.
From Bears football games to arts performances throughout the school’s various venue spaces, Mercer University is modernizing its ticketing operations with an elevated fan experience on par with the look, feel, and energy of its students, alumni, and community. Season tickets for Mercer Bears football and individual performances at The Grand Opera House are already on sale, gearing up for the return of students to campus this fall.
”Tixr has already proven to be a great solution for ticketing our ambitious slate of events. The flexibility this new platform provides means we can transition easily from sports to arts performances to festivals and more,” said Chas Pridgen, Mercer Ticket Sales’ Director of Patron Services. “The technological advancements they bring to the table make them a great partner for us, and they will streamline every aspect of the patron experience. We are elated that Mercer Ticket Sales has partnered with Tixr, and I cannot wait for our patrons and clients to experience this huge step forward regarding their ticketing needs.”
Chase Bloch, one of our Partnerships Executives here at Tixr, comes from a collegiate sports background, formerly coaching swimming at the University of Southern California. He knows how important it is to drive hype around your program to attract the best recruits, ultimately bringing in more revenue from donors.
“Whether it is having the best digital content team, the most lavish facilities, or the strongest NIL collective, universities are always looking for an edge,” said Bloch. “In an industry fixated on outshining rivals and keeping up with trends, it’s perplexing to see the most crucial fan touchpoint still tied to outdated legacy platforms. We’re thrilled to empower Mercer with the ability to show off their school colors in a modern and innovative way that truly represents their brand.”
Two of the primary reasons for adopting a modern ticketing system are to enhance the overall fan experience and to be able to sell more things in more ways. ”It’s time college ticketing gets an upgrade. Like most modern higher learning institutions, the athletic and arts events held by Mercer University provide an important touchpoint for its students, its faculty, and alumni,” adds Bloch, which Tixr Partnerships Executive Mitch Forster echoes. “In today’s fast-paced digital era, fans expect convenience and seamless interactions with their favorite teams, just as they do with any other e-commerce platform. Our fresh, highly-visual, white-labeled approach does just that — all in one place.” This year, ticket buyers will be able to easily browse across events, select reserved seats from intuitive seat maps, and quickly check out and manage purchases on any device.
Mercer University’s transition to Tixr is the first step towards a better overall experience for students and fans before, during, and after game-days and event-days. On the backend, our comprehensive reporting, robust analytics dashboards, and data-driven insights will give Mercer Ticket Sales and Mercer University Athletics a better understanding of its community’s purchase behavior and preferences and optimize its athletics and performance offerings as a result. We’re just getting started, and the future looks bright. Go Bears!
